Today's Challenge

  1. 1.What did you point at first?
  2. 2.Can you find another one?
  3. 3.What is the biggest thing in here?

Quick Start: What you need

  • 1Nothing at all. Just go outside and look.

The Goal

A point-and-name game for the littlest waiter, no reading needed.

How to start

  1. 1

No supplies needed. You can start from wherever you are.

  2. 2

Head indoors and see how many you can find: something red, a door, a light, a chair.

  3. 3

Talk about what you are seeing. Start with "What did you point at first?"

  4. 4

Print the worksheet to check things off as you find them, and keep it afterwards.

One Thing At A Time

Say a color out loud and let your child point at anything in the room that matches. Then swap, and let them pick the color.

Counting slowly to sixty out loud takes about a minute, which makes it a handy way to show a small child how long a wait actually is.

If you want to push it further

  • Take turns pointing and let them name it
  • Find two of the same thing in the room

Print it and go

The worksheet has the checklist, the prompts, and a space to draw in. One page, ready for a bag or a glovebox.
