Try this adventure now:

  • a bridge
  • a farm animal
  • a body of water
  • a truck hauling something

Today's Challenge

  1. 1.What is the biggest thing you saw out the window?
  2. 2.How many different vehicle types did you count?
  3. 3.How did the land change as we drove?

Quick Start: What you need

  • 1pencil

The Goal

A simple lookout game for the long stretches between stops.

How to start

  1. 1

Gather what you need: pencil. Nothing else required.

  2. 2

Head indoors and see how many you can find: a bridge, a farm animal, a body of water, a truck hauling something.

  3. 3

Talk about what you are seeing. Start with "What is the biggest thing you saw out the window?"

  4. 4

Print the worksheet to check things off as you find them, and keep it afterwards.

Draw The View

Pick one moment out the window and draw it below.

A rainbow you see from a moving car is different from the one a passenger in another car sees. Rainbows are different for every viewer.

If you want to push it further

  • Spot something you have never seen before
  • Count how many other cars are the same color as ours

Print it and go

The worksheet has the checklist, the prompts, and a space to draw in. One page, ready for a bag or a glovebox.
