Try this adventure now:

  • A gas station
  • A place to eat
  • A hotel or motel
  • Nothing at all
  • A town name you have never heard
  • More than four signs at once
  • A rest area

Today's Challenge

  1. 1.Whose guess came closest?
  2. 2.Which exit had the most going on?
  3. 3.Did any exit turn out to be nothing but trees?

Quick Start: What you need

  • 1pencil

The Goal

Call what you think is at the next exit, then find out who was right.

How to start

  1. 1

Gather what you need: pencil. Nothing else required.

  2. 2

Head indoors and see how many you can find: A gas station, A place to eat, A hotel or motel, Nothing at all.

  3. 3

Talk about what you are seeing. Start with "Whose guess came closest?"

  4. 4

Print the worksheet to check things off as you find them, and keep it afterwards.

Score The Guesses

Write each person down the side and give a point every time their guess matches what you actually pass.

On most American interstates the exit number tells you the mile marker, so exit 42 sits roughly 42 miles into that state.

If you want to push it further

  • Guess an exit correctly three times in a row
  • Find an exit with a town name nobody in the car can pronounce

Print it and go

The worksheet has the checklist, the prompts, and a space to draw in. One page, ready for a bag or a glovebox.
