  • a bug on a leaf

Today's Challenge

  1. 1.Did the bug move fast or slow?
  2. 2.Where did you find it?
  3. 3.Was it big or small?

Quick Start: What you need

  • 1Nothing at all. Just go outside and look.

The Goal

A gentler bug hunt for your littlest explorer, just find and look.

How to start

  1. 1

No supplies needed. You can start from wherever you are.

  2. 2

Head outside and see how many you can find: a bug crawling, a bug flying, a bug that is very small, a bug on a leaf.

  3. 3

Talk about what you are seeing. Start with "Did the bug move fast or slow?"

  4. 4

Print the worksheet to check things off as you find them, and keep it afterwards.

Draw The Bug

Draw or scribble a picture of a bug you found.

Some bugs can carry things much heavier than their own body.

If you want to push it further

  • Watch one bug for a whole minute without touching it

Print it and go

The worksheet has the checklist, the prompts, and a space to draw in. One page, ready for a bag or a glovebox.
