About 30 minutes, indoors, for ages 4 and under.
Where it works
Works in any indoor space
Who it's for
ages 4 and under
Try this adventure now:
- a plane on the ground
- a plane in the sky
- a truck driving to a plane
- wheels
- a tail with a picture on it
- someone waving
Today's Challenge
- 1.Is that plane big or little?
- 2.Is it moving or sitting still?
- 3.What color is its tail?
Quick Start: What you need
- 1Nothing at all. Just go outside and look.
The Goal
Plane spotting at toddler pace, from whatever window you can find.
How to start
- 1
No supplies needed. You can start from wherever you are.
- 2
Head indoors and see how many you can find: a plane on the ground, a plane in the sky, a truck driving to a plane, wheels.
- 3
Talk about what you are seeing. Start with "Is that plane big or little?"
- 4
Print the worksheet to check things off as you find them, and keep it afterwards.
Draw A Plane
Pick one plane out the window and draw it below. Add its wheels and its tail.
A plane's wings are built to bend. They flex up and down in the air on purpose, because a stiff wing would be far more likely to snap.
If you want to push it further
- Wave at one plane and see if it goes anyway
- Watch one plane from the window until it disappears
Print it and go
The worksheet has the checklist, the prompts, and a space to draw in. One page, ready for a bag or a glovebox.
